Finally a Good Run!

Today I ran 4 miles with Laura on the Centennial Trail.  I felt good throughout the run.  I'm excited because this is the first run in a while where I've felt confident about my ability.  Maybe I have the nutrition down. 

5:30am  Diet Coke / 3/4 Bagel with Turkey / Water

Another 4 Miles

Today I ran another 4 miles around the Jennings Loop.  My time was 47:53 minutes.  I was going to run my long mileage day of 9 miles.  I stopped after 4 miles for the second day in a row.  The heat and humidity are sucking the fun out of running.  I decided to give myself a break and do my long mileage day on Sunday.

4 Miles

Mark and I just back from a trip to Pacific Palisades, California.  We visited Sarah last week for what we thought was going to be her last chemotherapy infusion.  Unfortunately, her numbers were too low so it will be this week instead.  We had a lovely time spending quality time with Sarah and Liam, her puppyface dog.

Centennial Trail with Laura and Sharon

It looks like we've added Sharon Lang Smith to our group.  Sharon was also in the Base Builders class, so it seems only fitting she is running Fridays with us.  Today we had a very muggy run on the Centennial Trail.  According to my Garmin, humidity was 88 percent!  It was only 64 degrees, but it was tough to run in this weather.  Our awesomeness carried us through with only minor complaints from the peanut gallery.  We ran 4 miles today in 47:45 minutes.

Basic Weight Training

Today I attended another Basic Weight Training Class at the YMCA.  The instructor did a lot of exercises that dealt with the shoulders.  I was in pain!  I'm okay now but it hurt like the dickens.  The car accident I was in 20 years ago has left my left shoulder and arm sensitive to weight bearing.  I powered through it and I'm still very enthusiastic about the class!

Yoga

Today I attended a morning Yoga class at the YMCA.  I was very careful not to strain myself with the downward dog pose.  It's the one I hurt myself with last Fall and Spring.  I think I must be in better shape or the instructor was being easier on us today than she normally is.  Some of the yoga poses were slightly easier than I remember.  Either way, I was glad because I wanted a day that required less effort.

3 Miles Morning / 3 Miles Evening

Today I broke my training run into two segments.  I'm not sure it worked as well as I had hoped.  I started my morning run too late so the sun was high in the sky and warm.  I thought I'd try something new and see how breaking the run into two parts would go.  The cool evening was wonderful to run in.  Unfortunately, it ended up getting dark before we got home.  Luckily, Mark ran with me for the evening run so it wasn't a problem.
