Jog on Treadmill

Tuesday, July 31st

Today I jogged on the treadmill.  I jogged/walked 4.3 miles in 62 minutes.  I jogged 3.3 miles and walked 1 mile.

It was a warm day so I wore my new Bondiband Headband.  I ordered some of these off the internet.  I was having issues with perspiration falling into my eyes and stinging.  The headband looks ridiculous on me because of my short hair but it did the trick.

Tomorrow is the first day of August.  My goal for August is to jog 5 miles a day, 3 times a week.  My marathon training has also started and I need to complete a 7 mile walk this week.

Walking with Terri and Liam

Monday, July 30th

Today I walked with Terri and Liam. It was our regular 5.14 mile walk through the neighborhood. Our time was atrocious, 1 hour and 48 minutes, because of Liam. Terri and I are both blaming him for it, LOL. We took a few breaks for him to mark his territory, get some water, have a potty stop, get a picture taken, etc.  He did well until the last mile when he spotted a couple of dogs a few blocks ahead.  He then whined and pulled so he could say hi to them.  Regardless, Liam makes a good walking partner.

Believe it or not, this was the best picture we could get from him.

After his walk, Liam slept most of the rest of the day!

Jogged 5 Miles

I just finished jogging 5 miles, without stopping on the treadmill!  It took me 67 minutes at 4.5 mph.  I'm very proud of myself.  I'm on my way to the goal I set a few weeks ago of jogging 5 miles without stopping 3 times a week.  Happy dance!!!

A New Walking Partner

Liam after his walk
Liam, Sarah's puppyface dog, is visiting us for a month.  Sarah is in Aspen, Colorado working for a family as a personal assistant/estate manager.  Liam's pack, Monster, Chip, and Ebony (the Weiss dogs), are in Aspen.  There isn't a fence at the Aspen house so Liam wouldn't have been safe, since he is a "runner".  Anyway, we are dogsitting Liam so I have a new walking partner.  We've been taking Liam around the neighborhood for a walk in the evenings.  Today is the first time I've taken him out for a longer walk.  Liam and I walked 2.43 miles.

Walk/Jog in Bend, Oregon

I'm the person jogging in the pink shirt.
I walked and jogged for 40 minutes last Thursday, July 12th, in Bend, Oregon.  This was the only purposeful exercise I did.  I would have walked/jogged on Friday but I was beginning to feel the effects of another sinus infection.  Of course, I did a lot of walking and looking at quilts on Saturday at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show!

New Day and a New Goal

I started this blog so I would have a place to record my workouts.  I have taken a break from walking/jogging since the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Marathon on June 23rd.

June 29th - 3.2 Miles in 45 minutes

July 2 - 5 Miles in 93 minutes - Walked with Terri

July 9 - 5 Miles in 93 minutes - Walked with Terri

Today I jogged/walked on the treadmill.  5 Miles in 68 Minutes!  I jogged most of this at the pace of 4.5 mph.  Unfortunately, when I am jogging outside my body wants to go at 5 mph and I have a difficult time sustaining that pace.  I'm very happy with myself for getting back on the horse and jogging again.  I was scared I might have lost my jogging ability in the few weeks since the awesome marathon Alyssa and I did together.

One of my goals for jogging is to jog for long periods of time.  I consider a long period of time to be 2 hours without stopping to walk.  I would LOVE to jog 10 miles without stopping sometime in the future.  Right now I'll consider jogging 5 miles thrice a week without stopping awesome!  I think I'll make jogging 5 miles, 3 times a week, my goal for August.  I have 20 days to get my body in shape for that.

I'm leaving for a quilt retreat tomorrow at Sisters Oregon with Tracy Harper and Julie Huffman.  I packed my jogging clothes and hope to do a short jog on Thursday and Friday mornings.  It will have to be early because the predicted temperature is 90 degrees.  We'll see if I get up early and do it.
